I was sitting at home last night composing our annual geeky Christmas letter while watching the Celtics get smoked by Tracy McGrady's Houston Rockets, and an old Converse basketball shoe ad from the '70's popped into my head, featuring the "B Street Five."
Ode to my Converse All-Star Basketball Shoes
You're the greatest, and that's no jive
You're standard equipment on the B Street FiveAs I fly through the air, doing my famous slam dunk
I'm flying first class, and that ain't no bunkMy shoes will be wearing the Converse name
'Til they bronze my feet, for the Hall of FameConverse All-Stars. Limousines for the feet.
Anyone remember this classic precursor to rap, or is it just me?
