Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow
The Washington Post carried a story yesterday on John Edwards' haircuts. I kid you not. Paul at Wizbang noticed and blogged it. It detailed the relationship between Mr. Edwards and famed Beverly Hills hairstylist Joseph Torrenueva. Paul takes Mr. Edwards to task for the price of his haircuts. But this is America, you can pay whatever the market will bear. If you like having hotshot celebrity stylist work on your hair, and don't realize that there are talented stylists, well, just about everywhere, more power to you. I noticed something else, though.
The most illuminating line in the entire article is this:
At first, the haircuts were free.
followed closely by:
But because Torrenueva often had to fly somewhere on the campaign trail to meet his client...
I guess stashing away millions in trial lawyer money and many more millions in donations to an organization that "fights poverty" doesn't teach you about decency and courtesy. When you're a Really Important Person then all the little people need to bend to your will.
"I'm disappointed and I do feel bad. If I know someone, I'm not going to say I don't know them," [Torrenueva] said. "When he called me 'that guy,' that hit my ears. It hurt."
Let them eat cake.

Don't you realize that the werewolf's hair must be perfect?

Why do I have an image of Tom Cruise as "Vincent" in The Color of Money in my head?
