There's Something About Houston ...
I think there's something in the water in Houston. Probably oil. In any event, the environs seem to lend themselves to the production of fine blogging.
First, hats off to RightWingSparkle's Kathleen McKinley, who received mention on Power Line today. I've visited her blog on numerous occasions, always telling myself to remember to add her to the blog roll. Well, now I've got two links to add, as the Houston Chronicle has signed her up as Texas Sparkle, a conservative blog associated with the paper. Congratulations. Both your locations are now on the Blog Scroll.
Meanwhile, Will Franklin's WILLisms.com has surpassed 500,000 visits (at least). That's a real milestone, unlike this one. Will has a knack for taking a tangle of statistics and making sense of them, and then presenting them in eye-catching fashion. For example, check out today's "Trivia Tidbit" on the gas price discussion. Will has been a "Friend of Giacomo" for a long time, and I'm proud that Joust The Facts on his blogroll as well. Jay Tea wrote a nice tribute as well yesterday. Congratulations, Will.
Another Houston blogger, Jason Smith of Texas Rainmaker, has been producing excellent work in his new digs. For instance, speaking of the gas price crunch, check out this informative post.
But Democrats never fail to seize an opportunity to raise taxes. Now let me ask you this, if Congress implemented a 50% windfall profit tax on the oil companies, who do you think would end up paying that? Do you think the oil company executives would feel so guilty that they’ve been making 8 cents on the dollar and smile when that’s cut in half? Or would they simply build the tax into the supply chain and end up passing it along to shareholders and consumers?
Finally (and I know this is a reach) Houston being the original home of NASA let's not forget to mention the new blog Hot Air as it rises in the blogosphere. (Sorry about the pun.) Hot Air is a product of Allahpundit and Michelle Malkin and it looks like it'll be a frequent read. Here Allah sums up the known facts in the Mary McCarthy CIA leak case.
So, congratulations to you all.

Gracias.
