The Changing Republican Leadership

Over at The Truth Laid Bear is a statement of principle and appeal by center-right bloggers on the upcoming shift in House GOP leadership, following the stepping aside of Tom DeLay.  (Footnote: the link to the post is not working, but it is seen on the right half of NZ Bear's main page.)  (revised: The link is now working - scroll down - but the trackback feature is not)

The gist of it is simple.  There is a call for lobbying reform, and for a leadership committed to "openness, transparency and accountability in Congressional operations and in the appropriations process."  That is, no pork, no payoffs.

Further:

As for the Republican leadership elections, we hope to see more candidates who will support these goals, and we therefore welcome the entry of Congressman John Shadegg to the race for Majority Leader. We hope every Congressman who is committed to ethical and transparent conduct supports a reform agenda and a reform candidate. And we hope all would-be members of the leadership make themselves available to new media to answer questions now and on a regular basis in the future.

I think this is something we can all get behind.  Now if the Democratic leadership were so committed, why, then you got something!

Thanks to Kevin Aylward for the heads up.
