ABC News has a truly remarkable set of images from New Orleans and the surrounding areas of the damage from Hurricane Katrina. Best to view the entire set. Go to ABC News, click on Photos: Katrina's destruction. Here's one.
Obviously your prayers go out to the victims in situations like this ... except the looters. I would hope that the private American generosity that showed up at the time of the Asian Tsunami could be replicated here. The death toll is obviously going to be less, but the destruction is still unreal. Instapundit Glenn Reynolds, Hugh Hewitt, and Michelle Malkin are the big guns with links to places to donate. The latter also notes the looters in a post headlined "Katrina: You loot, I shoot." As I said.

Charity's backup generator was running out of diesel fuel. Nurses hand-pumped ventilators for patients who couldn't breathe. Doctors canoed supplies in from three nearby hospitals.
Can the Navy get a hospital ship to the area quickly? Yup, looks like that's underway already. The USS Abraham Lincoln group provided the tsunami relief.
