When Red Is Blue, And Blue Is Red
That would be in 2008. Michelle Malkin (and others) have noted the "Count Me Blue" bracelets now being marketed to those Americans embarassed that democracy functions here. I mean, can't we just have a liberal ruling elite that decides things for all of us? It would be, like, so much easier!
I'm not sure if those who are buying the blue bracelets are aware of this, but for the 2008 election Republican-won states will be colored blue, and Democrat-won states will be colored red. You see, the color states get on the map depends on the incumbent party and alternates. Red was the challenger in 2000, and the incumbent in 2004, and will be the challenger again in 2008. And considering that people will start guessing which way states lean, oh, probably later this year, the bracelets have a shelf-life of perhaps six months. Maybe they can go get a "Count Me Red" bracelet also, and be ready for the changeover.
How silly. Unless, of course, it's all just a grand money-making scheme...
UPDATE: Ace of Spades calls it what it is, at least to those of us who know the story of those "who have them on thars."
There's just something very weird about investing so much of your sense of personal worth in what stupid party you belong to.
